Howdy there all you mac people. Living up here in the warm and sunny north causes the news to travel a lot slower.(you know, people would rather be at the beach, that sort of thing). Anyway this question may have been asked before, but I can't remember, so here goes..... I was wondering what bus system the rumored 3-slot Mac IIx (maybe coming out in March I think....) would be using. Will it use the NuBus slots like the Mac II and company or will it be sporting the New Bus of the SE/30. Anyone heard anything? Oh yeah, what are the differences between these two buses and which one is better. If this has been asked before then just ignore my ramblings. Thanx in advance. -- Bruce Johnston Dalhousie University Halifax, Nova Scotia, CAnada. Disclaimer: I'm always right... and submarines have screen doors!

The SE/30 (like the SE) doesn't really have a "bus" other than simply an extension of the microprocessor bus out to a connector. The NuBus is in many ways "better" than the "buses" on the SEs. The NuBus is an industry standard, and cards that are made for one Nubus machine (regardless of microprocessor used) should be able to be plugged into any other machine with a Nubus bus. -- Frank Owen (fjo@ttrdf) 312-982-2182 AT&T Bell Laboratories 5555 Touhy Ave., Skokie, IL 60077 PATH: ...!att!ttrdf!fjo
