Are there Unix utilities, e.g for Sun 3, that perform the same functions as BinHex and StuffIt? I've had a number of instances where I've downloaded a .hqx file to my Mac II, only to find that there is something wrong and the file can't be decoded properly. I'd like to be able at least to do a correctness check before sending the file down the 9600 baud link. Since a StuffIt archive often contains a file with documentation, I'd like to be able to extract such files and perhaps save the bother of downloading something that isn't quite what I want. If Unix sources for BinHex and StuffIt aren't available, where can I find a description of the formats used by BinHex and StuffIt? The BinHex source on Sumex is not much help because it contains many instances of inline 68000 code. Please reply by mail to Barry Wolman (barry@primerd.prime.com) Prime Computer
