[comp.sys.mac] resedit, Trapeze problem recognizing system version

bergman@odin.m2c.org (Michael Bergman) (02/22/89)

Resedit v 1,2b3, which I just aquired, and Trapeze 2.1 or 2.2 (I don't
recall which; I believe its whichever is the most recent release),
both have the same slightly bizarre problem: when I try to start them
up, they produce a dialog box saying: "Requires at least system 4.1
and 128k ROM to run", with a click-to-confirm button. No option for
trying to run anyway. The problem, of course, being that I HAVE
system 4.1 or better (most recently, I had Finder 6.0 and system 4.2)
and the 128k ROM. I am running a Mac 128 with an Apple internal
upgrade and a MacMemory 2 Meg daughterboard.

The folks at Trapeze offered to give me back the $5 I paid for the
upgrade...which doesn't actually help me much as version 1.1 didn't
have all the features I needed and I bought Trapeze based on the 2.1
demo disk.

Has anyone encountered this bug? Most importantly, is there a patch
for it? Is it caused by aan Apple supplied routine for determining
the system version?

Mike,
I have a MacPlus, running system 6.02 and I haven't encountered your problem
with trapeze or resedit. It could be your system is corrupted. Trying getting
a new version off of a backup or a friend.
