[comp.sys.mac] fuzzy screen

ins_bscp@jhunix (Sean Christo Purcell) (02/28/89)

I've noticed lately that the screen on my mac (a 1984 512k) has
been getting a little fuzzy around the edges, like it's out of focus. The
center of the screen is still clear, and it's worst in the corners.
Is this a sign of impending demise of the picture tube or video
circuitry, or is there some quick (or at least inexpensive fix) which can
prolong it's life until I can afford a MacII (a long time at the rate I'm going)

There is a focus control on the mac analog board. The control
is marked as r54 and can be adjusted with an ordinary flathead screw driver.
Often, there is a resister that breaks which will cause the focus control to
have no effect. The resister is a 1meg ohm and is marked as r9. The breakdown
of these parts and the power supply in general is mainly caused from the heat
generated...If you dont already have one, get a fan.

have you tried cleaning your screen thourougly???
If you're lucky, that's an easy solution...
If not, I have no idea.
