Can anyone tell me what the special 128-byte header prepended to GIF format picture files on Macintosh systems contains ? I have many very good GIF files which I cannot view because all the Macintosh GIF software seems to assume that these extra bytes are found at the start of the file... why has somebody gone to the trouble of messing up a perfectly good graphics format ? Replies directly to me, please. If you also are interested in the answers, drop me a line and I'll send you a summary. Otto J.
