G'day. I have a DataFrame XP40, that has gone belly-up on me, but the error messages I am getting and the diagnostics I run, return opposing information. Basically I had a regular old system crash, while in Navigator (lost count how many time this program has died on me.. but it's more usefull than anything else I have, so it has a place on my HardDisk through necessity). The system didn't recover, all I got was a ?, and booting off a floppy failed to mount the DataFrame. Running the latest DataFrame manager utility, tells me that the Disk is in an uninitialised state. Funny, twas initialised just a sec ago, me thinks? This is where I get the conflicting info. The DataFrame manager diagnostic reports that the mechanism, controller and media are OK, however when I initialise the disk, I get an error saying that there was a problem creating a directory. I also get an initialisation message from the finder, when it subsequently tries to mount the drive on a re-boot. This doesn't work either (no error.. it just doesn't work). Anyone know why I might get the conficting information (if the controller and media get the thumbs up?). Anyone know, if there is actually a media error, a way to patch around it, or have the DFManager flag it?
