[comp.sys.mac] HPLaserJet driver for Mac???

sklein@cdp.UUCP (02/25/89)

With all the Mac sites reading this, I'm sure some of you are
using HP LaserJets with Macs. What do you use to drive them?

We have an HP LaserJet II. We also have a Shiva NetSerial, and I'd
like to hook the HP up to the Shiva to make it a shared printer,
instead of being dedicated to one MS-DOS machine (which doesnt need it).

I would guess that some drivers might try writing directly to the
serial port, which probably wouldn't work for me. Any suggestions?

Any HP LaserJet drivers that ANYONE likes, or do they all stink?

wdy.. I have an older laserjet printer which I use sometime son my Mac,
and there are a couple of options - sadly, both had drawbacks. I used
a printer driver sold by Hewlett-Packard - can't recall the name
righ now - but it didn't work well with hypercard 1.1 and a couple
of other packs.
There is also a cable from Orange Micro which lets the laser look
like a fancy imagewriter to the mac and still print laser quality.
That's what I'm using now and it works ok, tho there are sometimes
issues with pixel size and aspect ration.

You might try the orange micro vcable if that will work for you,
or if you like, I'll find that driver name...
