How would overall throughput compare running a LaserWriter by its serial port at 9.6 kbps vs. over AppleTalk at 230 kpbs? It seems to me there are two considerations: 1. What is the speed of the print engine? Is 9.6 as fast or faster than it can print? 2. Will the LW print WHILE receiving the next page? If it can only do one activity at a time, receive a page then print the page, it would certainly recieve the page faster at 230 kbps. If on the other hand, the print engine is given a page to print, freeing the internal processor for receiving the next page, overall throughput MAY be the same/very close regardless of which speed is used.
