[comp.sys.mac] Textures, eps, and the Symbol font

korfhage@lanai.cs.ucla.edu (03/08/89)

I have an eps file, generated by Freehand v2.0, that I include in a
Textures document. This particular picture contains one character in the
symbol font and this fact renders the document unprintable from Textures
(remove this character and it prints just fine). The way the document fails
to print is unpredicatable: sometimes the mac thinks it printed, but nothing
comes out (usually the case). Sometimes it generates a postscript error,
printing out a message about an unknown command and then a string that is
usually garbage as the offending command. Freehand, incidently, can print out
the picture without problem.
I remade the picture using Canvas 2.0, and found the same sort of
failure. Again, Canvas can print out the picture, but Textures can't.

The problem might be with Bezier curves, or the way they are put into the
document. The very original version of the picture was an ordinary PICT
that printed out ok but wasn't very pretty, hence the other versions.

If anyone can offer a solution that would let me print out the eps files
in the Textures documents, I would be very grateful. This problem
will cause considerable headaches if it remains. Kinda makes me regret that
I used sigma and mu throughout my dissertation.
