[comp.sys.mac] Advice needed on large SCSI disks

root@radar.UUCP (Donn S. Fishbein) (03/12/89)

I'm looking to purchase a large (~300M) hard disk in the near future.
So far the best deal I've been able to find is from Hard Drives International,
who offer a 330Mb Miniscribe drive (external) for $2075. Does anyone know
of any better deals anywhere?

Yes! The miniscribe is not bad, but for a few hundred more you can get
a drive with MUCH better performance, the Wren Runner. For now, MicroNet
has an exclusive on this, and their prices are excellent (more companies
will be distributing it in a few months).

This unit has a REAL (not cached) access time of 10.7 ms, and a real
transfer rate much higher than other Mac drives (even the other Wrens,
which have been the performance leaders so far). If you need a large
hard disk, you almost certainly need a fast one, and this is the fastest
drive you can buy.

Dealer price for the Runner is around $2600 external, $2300 internal.
Price/performance with this drive is phenomenal...
