Wanted: Scientific Images and Image Sequences The National Center for Supercomputing Applications and Apple Computer, Inc. are making preparations to cut a compact disk to be distributed at AUC in July and at ACM SIGGRAPH '89. The Apple Science '89 CD will contain the NCSA Scientific Software Suite for the Macintosh (NCSA Image, NCSA DataScope, NCSA PalEdit, NCSA Layout). In addition to these programs, we will include approximately 300MB of images and animation sequences from researchers around the world. NCSA is seeking examples of images that you have used in your research. Single images that are elements of longer animations are also welcome. We will choose from those sent to us for inclusion in this first-of-its-kind CD. All images used will be fully credited. For full consideration, each image or image sequence received must be accompanied by a short (1 paragraph) description of the research that it represents, as well as the name, address, email address, and affiliation of the researcher(s). Submissions must be received no later than April 10, 1989. You may send these on floppy or on tape, tar format preferred, to: Susan Goode - Science '89 CD Project NCSA - Software Development Group 269 Computing Applications Building 605 East Springfield Avenue Champaign, Illinois 61820 or, if the image is small enough, via electronic mail (binhex/StuffIt format required) to: sgoode@ncsa.uiuc.edu In either case, please include a description of the format of your images (i.e. HDF, PICT, binary 3 byte per pixel, GIF, SUN Raster, ...).
