[comp.sys.mac] Need Help Printing PostScript from UNIX

gww@g.cs.wvu.wvnet.edu (Gary Carvell) (03/17/89)

Has anyone on the net managed to use a non-Apple PostScript printer
from UNIX? We have gotten ours to work, but the printer hangs about
half the time (LED's blinking furiously but no output), and sometimes
output sent from UNIX programs is backwards (i.e. mirror-image) if we
have printed from the Mac first.
Our setup is as follows. We have a QMS PS-810 printer attached to a
Sun 3/60 host, with the Mac II communicating with the Sun over Ethernet.
We are using Kinetics' K-Spool program to send output to the printer.
We are using a version of Laser Prep 5.2 hacked according to instructions
posted recently by Peter Kiehtreiber. Maybe further changes are
necessary for it to work with the QMS?
If anyone has worked through this problem, please e-mail me. Any help
of any kind will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
        Gary
