Help! I recently ran interferon 3.1 on my TOPS 2.1 updater disk and got a report back that virus type 003 was reported on the TOPS file. I know the TOPS file isn't your everyday kind of file ( however checking the the 2.0 disk I got no such report ). report: Virus type 003 "SNEAK" Virus Hardisk: Systems Folder: TOPS from documentation: "003 A SENAK virs. This is a virus that adds it's code to a common System folder file and changes it's type to INIT so that it is run at boot time. Type 003 is a generic "Virus sniffer" that detects if common Systems folder files have been adulterated in this way. If you get a type 003 virus, ... " I thought that TOPS was an INIT?!? This is a known problem with TOPS/Interferon. TOPS knows about it, and it will be fixed in the "real soon now" TOPS 2.2. This was hashed over the net a little while ago. --- Alex UUCP: {att,backbones}!ucbvax!qal.berkeley.edu!lauac INTERNET: lauac%qal.berkeley.edu@ucbvax.berkeley.edu

Don't worry about it. Tops technical support is aware of the problem, and my answering machine message (which you would have gotten if you had called the number to report it) tells you about it too. Don't worry - Be Happy. It isn't a virus. ;^) -- * Robert J Woodhead * The true meaning of life is cunningly encrypted and * * uunet!biar!trebor * hidden somewhere in this signature... * * Biar Games, Inc. * ...no, go back and look again *
