NCSA Telnet must remain in constant contact with the host. Hosts typically send a "keepalive" packet every 45 seconds and they give up on you after 3 to 10 minutes. So if you have a screen-saver which takes over the CPU and does not give control back to the application, this problem is unavoidable. I have been told that Pyro is fixed. I use Moire 2.1 which does not have this problem. Tim Krauskopf NCSA
