[comp.sys.mac] PrintMonitor Error Message

loucks@intvax.UUCP (Cliff Loucks) (03/25/89)

One of our Mac IIs here has had problems with background printing.
Printing from the forground works fine, but twice now, background
printing has resulted in an alert with the message "PrintMonitor
found an internal problem. Where=6, Why=-37." After clicking "OK"
the alert would go away but would reoccur a few seconds later when
PrintMonitor would again try to process the spool file in the system
folder. We got out of this loop by throwing away the spool file.
Assuming PrintMonitor was somehow corrupted we reloaded it, but the
problem was still there. We then replaced Backgrounder thinking it
might be the problem (what exactly does this file do?). We finally
fixed the problem by reloading the System file (version 6.0.2).

We have several Macs around here and this is the only one which had
any problem like this. The only thing that's different with this
one is that Douglas CAD (and its associated plotter driver Pen Plot)
is used on it and none of the others. So I suspect there's a bug in
Pen Plot, or at least it's not fully background compatible.

It's now a couple of weeks later and the same problem has happened
again. If anyone knows where these error codes are documented
(Inside Mac maybe) could you please forward their meanings to me.

Thanks,
Cliff
