I am a Mac II owner -- As someone who bought the Mac II because "A/UX was coming", I DISCOURAGE you from betting on future OS's from Apple. After all, no gambling system is intended to pay off a majority to the players..... And look what great luck people have had "betting" on OS-2!!!! I got my Mac II thinking I'd get A/UX when it was released. Little did I know that initially, Apple would charge $3000 for a hard disk "loaded with A/UX", and then lower the price to $800, sans documentation, just for floppy disks. These prices are outrageous, even by PC/386 UNIX standards. Apple is rumbling about charging for future versions of the operating system. Don't buy an 030 and get screwed by Apple like I did!!!!!! If I were the SE owner in question, I think I'd hold out until Apple came out with the OS that will be dependent on the '030. Yeah, I sold my Mac Plus for an SE/30 now, but if I already had an SE instead of a Plus, I would have waited. PS Skip the SuperDrive upgrade, unless you need to do IBM floppy transfers. Since all I ever use floppies for is transfering data between Macs, it's next to useless -- 800K is what most people use (and will continue to use, unless quad density disk prices come way down) MONDO VIDEO with Prof. Fred Hopkins: "PROMISED LAND (Vestron).
