Does any one have any info on Newbury Data, manufacturer of Newbury Hard Di Drives. They are liquidating their supply of Hard Drives in US and are offering a 85mg for $595 and a 50mg for $395.

Careful though, the disks are going fast, some models are no longer available (such as the 28millisec 380Meggers) but there are still 30+ 19millisecs 380Meggers (cause a sale of 75 drives fell through); the US-office shuts down effective April 1 (though the British home office and Canadian sub- sidiary are not). - warranty service (1 year) and continued support will be provided by the same technician out of an office in the same building and answering the same phone-number (matter of fact, the phone is already being answered with: "Newbury-Daisy" ). Considering that I just bought 2 380Megger(320Meg after formatting, one with 19msec ($1400) access time, and 28msec ($1100)) I feel confident that I have what it takes to make even a NeXT-machine useful ... the funniest thing is that they fit exactly into the enclosures of those old Tecmar and Davong doorstoppers, that overtired Mackers keep dripping over in the early morning hours - though the power-supply is too weak to spin up the drive and it has to be replaced!! The phone-number again is (213)370-0775 and I am only a paying customer and nothing else (maybe we should create a mailing-lists of netters who bought one to mutually support each other in joy and/or sorrow. mail me) I'll make the original sale-announcement available for FTP on RASCAL.ICS.UTEXAS.EDU in ~ftp/mac/misc/Newbury-drives; please don't ask me to mail it to you. BTW, I'm serious of wanting to get feedback from others who have bought a drive also and could create a little mailing-list for "orphan" support and "lobbying" with the British home-office, should that ever become necessary.
