I am interested in providing remote support to a sight in Canada. (I'm in CA). I think I can use Timbuktu, Timbuktu/Remote and a fast modem to do this. 1) How fast does the modem need to be? Has anybody really used it at 2400 baud? 2) Is there any way to use a Liason instead of Timbuktu/Remote? 3) I will probably need a 9600 baud modem. I would like to use it for other connections also. Not so long ago, I decided the market was too fragmented and modems too incompatible to make a good choice. Is that still true? What is the current information regarding 9600 baud modems? Have any reviews been published? Is there a clear market leader? Or is the market still in a disarray of incompatible brands? In particular, MacNet is offering a Racal-Vadic 9600 for $999. This is a true v32 full duplex modem. Is this a good buy? Thanks, Joe Liemandt liemandt@jessica.stanford.edu
