[comp.sys.mac] Use outcast 400K floppy in PC?

kc@rna.UUCP (Kaare Christian) (04/05/89)

I just got around to pulling the 400k floppy from my mac+ and replacing
it with an 800K. Is there any way I can use the old 400k drive in
a PC?

Also, the power supply recently failed. What is the consensus on using
a fan to keep things cool? To me, it seems very hot near the top of the
box. I've recently added external floppy and scsi hard disk -- the supply
failed soon after. Is this failure just overdue, or do overstuffed macs
need some cooling?

Direct replies are probably best -- I'm sure this has been overdiscussed in
the past.

BTW - I was one of the early purchasers of the 128K mac, way back when.
Since then I have replaced the original memory, then the motherboard (and
back case), then the keyboard, then the power supply, and now finally
the internal drive. The only original parts are the mouse, the tube, and the
front case. Is this amazing, or is it pitiful? (I've also owned and upgraded
PCs, but often it was cheap enough to buy a whole new machine. Hence I
have four PCs, various vintages, but only one mac.)
