As long as I've used WriteNow (both 1.0 and 2.0) under some undetermined circumstances (which I think are related to being in a folder removed from the application), there is a 2 or 3 minute delay in creating a new file. The application creates a file icon named Untitled-1 which cannot be used or moved to another folder until it converts to the icon with the name of the created file. I just assumed this was normal WriteNow behavior. It doesn't always happen, but it frequently happens this way. But I just phoned T/Maker about it and their technical support person says they've never heard of this one. So I agreed to post this notice to see if anyone else has seen the same behavior. I'm running on a 5 meg Mac II with a 40 meg hard disk, system 6.0.2, multifinder, with lots of inits and cdevs. I mention this because T/Maker asked me about such matters. They'd particularly be interested to know if someone with a much simpler configuration (such as running in the finder without the inits and cdevs) has noticed the same behavior. Please send any Email to steve@violet.berkeley.edu. Thanks, Steve Goldfield P.S. about the file launching problem with WriteNow we discussed recently, I've been noticing that if I immediately try to relaunch a WriteNow file just after it refused to launch, it generally will launch. Strange...

The problems described lead me to guess that you are running Desktop Manager. If so, remove it and see if that fixes things. --- Alexis Rosen alexis@ccnysci.{uucp,bitnet}
