Someone gave me a nifty little DA called Saviour that automatically saves your documents at regular intervals (every 60 seconds, for example, or every 200 keystrokes). Unfortunately, there is no copyright, about box, or other identifying info. I'd like to install it on all our machines, but I want to be legal. Does anyone know who publishes this? Is it freeware? Share- ware? Commercial-ware? -Shabtai Klein Minds, like | UUCP: uunet!pyramid!cdp!sklein parachutes, | Internet: cdp!sklein@arisia.xerox.com function only when | BitNet: cdp!sklein%labrea@stanford they are open | PhoneNet: (301) 270-2250

However, I like you cannot find any address, info. box, etc. ... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Dave =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= EOT

It was written by a well-known programmer as a hack for a friend and was never intended to get out to the real world (hence no About box, etc.). Once it did get it, the author choose to let it go so others could benefit from it, but since the DA did not live up to his personal standards he didn't bother retracting it for a newer version or one with an About Box. But to answer the questions quickly again - feel free to put it on your machines and enjoy it. Disclaimer: I didn't write it, but I obviously know who did. -- +--------------------------------------------------+ Leonard Rosenthol | GEnie : MACgician Lazerware, inc. | MacNet: MACgician UUCP: svc@well.UUCP | ALink : D0025

Macintosh is not the *only* computer with PD shareware; nor, as many Mac-sters would believe, is the Mac the only user-friendly (or even usable) computer on the market. For example: the Amiga has MUCH more shareware per unit than the Mac does, and even the smaller number of Amigas sold doesn't account for the discrepancy. And many of the complaints people have about the Mac wouldn't be applicable to even the lowest model Amiga. Not that I'm prostletizing for the Amiga (I'm still deciding which to buy); just wishing people would be slightly more *aware*. :bags fleabag@athena.mit.edu

Gee, what an appropriate username for someone who prefers
an Amiga to a Mac. 1/2 :-)

P.S. Did they rebuild the Student Center yet?

Sorry. I guess I'm guilty of nearsightedness. I was judging from some of the experiences I've had with people trained on other systems that I have to deal with around HERE. (And you can bet I won't name any brands !!) Noone here uses Amiga, but that is no excuse. I just wanted to compliment the person who released the software. I'm new to the MACINTOSH arena and have found so many helpful people that I don't find in other areas. I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED the type of person you mention in your followup, but I'm sure some exist. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Dave =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= EOT
