Hi, I am looking at the methods available in different systems that all the user to customize his/her environment and applications. At the moment I am looking at the Macintosh and I find myself in need of any information regarding the resource editing tools REdit and ResEdit, as described in "Human Interface Guidelines: The Apple Desktop Interface". I only have the preliminary "Inside Macintosh" documentation which does not describe any resource editors because non had been written at the time of publication. I would therefore be extremely grateful to anybody who would take the time to email me (or to this newsgroup) and describe the appearance and detailed operation of the resource editors available on the Mac. Somebody recently mentioned in comp.sys.mac.programmer about getting ResEdit from somewhere, but I didn't understand if this was a software supplier or a bulletin board, etc. At the very least could someone give me a reference to where ResEdit is documented, i.e. something similar to a Mac II user manual. I really need to know how resources are edited, obviously via some direct manipulation method. Is the editor similar to the Control Panel or is it more general and allows ALL resources defined in a Mac file (application or document) to be edited? Thanks in advance for any help, Richard Richard Hesketh : rlh2@ukc.ac.uk ..!mcvax!ukc!rlh2 --- Computing Lab., University of Kent at Canterbury, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NF, United Kingdom.
