[comp.sys.mac] SIMMs -- Low or high?

gmw1@CUNIXD.CC.COLUMBIA.EDU (Gabe M Wiener) (04/18/89)

Hello people. I'm about to buy a Wren 300Mb internal drive and I'm running
into a slight problem. I don't know if my SIMMs are low or high profile,
and as you know, those Wren drives won't mount with high profile simms.

I've got 5 Megs in my machine, meaning 4 1MB sims, and 4 256K simms. The 1MB
simms are slightly higher than the 256K SIMMS, but not much. I took a ruler
to the simms today, and measuring from the short side, the simms extend about
3/8" up from the white memory socket.

I've also been told that high profile SIMMs have a line of resistors running
across the top. There are no resistors in sight on my board, and thus I am
led to believe that I've got the low profile SIMMs. But nonetheless, they
do extend a tidbit above the Apple SIMMs. Can anyone tell me for sure?

Thanks
