In reading the February 1989 issue of Byte magazine I came across an interesting paragraph on the 030 Direct Slot. They state that the 030 is "basically NuBus compatible" and "you can use the NuBus software drivers". The sketchy info leads one to believe about the only major difference is the connector. What are the basic hardware and software differences between 030 and NuBus? More specifically would it be possible to build an external NuBus extension chassis for the Mac SE30 that plugs into the 030 slot. I have a similar extension chassis for my old portable Compaq. Inside the box appears to be a rather simple configuration with a power supply, some slots and few line buffers. As I recall the whole thing cost around $600.
