POTELLE@MAINE.BITNET (John A Potelle) (04/25/89)
I'm a new Mac user. I have a Mac SE with 2meg memory, 20meg internal drive and a 800k internal floppy. I'm looking for a programmable database package. I've heard a lot about packages like Dbase III Plus and FoxBase for the IBM PC (although I have no experience with either). I'm looking for comparisons between any existing database packages for the Mac including (but not limited to) Dbase, ORACLE, Foxbase (if it exists for the Mac) and any others that come to mind. I'm specifically looking for capabilities like multi-indexed, multi- structured hierarchical databases with some relational abilities. Also easy screen and report design and simple (very) statistical functions. Other than that, easy maintainability of code (I know this depends alot on the programmer :-), and portabilty (not really an issue at this point, but maybe later...) John A.
