[comp.sys.mac] COLOR MONITOR KITS FOR MAC II FOR SALE $250.

gp310ad@pyr.gatech.EDU (ANTON DAINTY) (04/26/89)

I went to an auction and bought more IBM 5175 monitors than I need.

640 X 480 Analog RGB
13 inch diagonal anti-gare CRT
IBM logo (easily covered if you wish)
0.31 mm dot pitch

Here is what you get in the kit....
1) A new IBM 5175 with power cord and video cable.
2) A 15 pin connector to fit the MAC II video card.
3) Procedure for changing the connector (soldering required)
4) Procedure for adjusting the monitor (you will have to remove the cover
and tweak two, clearly marked, trimmers.

Caveats...
See Mac User Oct 88 monitor review. The "Classic professional graphics
monitor described there is the same as this one. I have not noticed the
"green tinge" reported in the article. I have noticed a slight "hashing"
of the image during disk access (only). Not everyone I've shown the monitor
to notices this though.

If you have trouble with the conversion I'll help over the phone. If you get
a dead monitor (the shipping people aren't always as carefull as they should
be) I'll send you another. I'm only available in the evenings EST and sometimes
we go out so I may not be able to respond immediately to help requests.

Thanks-

-Bob

I usually post to misc.forsale but thought this might be of interest to Mac II
folks who were not actively looking for a monitor.
If anyone already owns one of these... The conversion is just a matter of
adding the connector and tweaking the Hsync and Hphase trimmers in the 5175.
If you need the pin-out for either the Mac or 5175 video send me mail.

Thanks again
-Bob
