[comp.sys.mac] SuperClock, setting the time

jay@ut-emx.UUCP (Jay Boisseau) (04/13/89)

I downloaded a nifty little INIT not too long ago from comp.binaries.mac
called SuperClock (ver. 3.1, I believe). It has date and alarm functions, so
I removed the Alarm Clock DA when I installed it. Well, I had to change my
time setting for daylight savings, and I couldn't figure out how to set the
time using SupeClock. I clicked on everything. I finally re-installed
Alarm Clock DA, set the time, and removed it again.

Does ANYBODY know how to set the time with SuperClock?

Thanks,
Jay Boisseau

If you change the time in your control panel, it should
change the time for all programs that read your clock.
In other words, there's only one clock in your Mac and
you should be able to set it in the control panel, not
in another DA.

I end up using the General cdev.

Well, Steve gave the correct answer, but I don't know if he was answering
the right question :-)

Many people think that you can only change the Mac's clock from the Alarm
Clock DA (I believe that this was Jay's assumption -- he knew that there
is only one clock in his Mac). This isn't correct: open the Control Panel,
then choose the General cdev (if for some reason it isn't already selected.
Just off the center, you will see the clock. Click on the hours to change
them (same procedure for the rest of the fields).

This is how to get SuperClock to display the right time (without having to
re-install the Alarm Clock DA).

Or you could always move to an area that doesn't change times (like here)...

I use SUPERCLOCK too and really like it

On an SE I just go to the control panel, click on 'General,' set the
time then leave the control panel and SUPERCLOCK automatically adjusts
to the new time. Maybe this does not work on other Macs.

Why not use the control panel?

In SuperClock 3.1 you can set the time from within the cdev. It's in the
alarm section.

I've been looking for someting like SuperClock myself...
Does it work on a SE/30? Is it shareware?
If it is, can somebody send it to me? (I'm not sure
I can ftp it)

Thanks!!

Jay, did you also remove your Control Panel? The clock can be easily
set from the General CDEV in the control panel and you can once again
toss the fairly useless alarm clock DA...
