I ran into a situation when UW (Unix Windows) killed my Mac cold (not even a bomb box). Here it is in case anyone else has encountered it or knows of a fix. My initial window was configured to be vt52, but the server on the mainframe set my terminal type to adm31. I entered a command which entailed a 'more' response. When I typed a blank, the machine quietly died. All was OK when I restarted the machine, restarted UW and set the terminal type in the initial window to vt52. I'm running a IIx with various inits etc etc, if that makes any difference. UW on the Mac is version 4.2, and the UW on the mainframe is 6.1.
