A friend of mine came to me with the following inquiry. Please direct all responses to him. His address is chmx321@iv1.cc.utexas.edu I'm under the impression that this has been discussed before, but since I wasn't interested, I think I used a liberal dose of 'k's. :-) Sorry for the rehash. Thanks in advance. Mike ------------------------------------------------ Does anyone know about connecting a HP DeskJet or DeskJet Plus printer to a Macintosh SE/30 ? Most people I have talked to have little or no idea. There seems to be two options : MacPrint (software) or Grappler (hardware). The MacPrint software I have seen works for the LaserJet printers (but not specifically for the DeskJets). Is there a MacPrint version which includes DeskJet printers ? Grappler apparently more than doubles the printing speed from a Mac, but at least it works and gives good quality printout. Will HP come out with a Mac-compatible DeskJet Plus printer ? Will Macintosh come out with a DeskJet printer driver ? Is there a public domain version of a driver? If so, where does it reside? The DeskJet Plus seems to be an inexpensive alternative to buying a LaserWriter or LaserJet printer. It has high quality output, is extremely quiet, and costs less than half as much. The new Plus model is faster and has more fonts than the original DeskJet printer. Any and all information about connecting the Mac to a HP DeskJet printer will be appreciated. Thanks for your help.
