My thanks to those of you that responded to my question about why the apple for the Apple menu was not in color. The overwhelming majority of responses said that I needed to install the system with the "maximal" installer scripts. This worked, but I was puzzled since I was sure I had done this originally. I finally decided to dig into a copy of the system with ResEdit and see what the difference was. There was another message on the net about the Macintosh from the "Welcome to Macintosh" screen not showing up in color either and this message mentioned the 'cicn' resource. I had not explored the 'cicn' resource before so I compared my old System with the newly installed system and found that I was missing the 'cicn' resource ID=20. However the old system DID already have the 'cicn' ID=31. A Mr. Wade Blomgren also mentioned these resources and confirmed that I was on the right track. Does anyone know if any viruses out there have this as a side effect? The only virus we have seen here has been nVIR, but we were able to remove it before anything happened, and thus we still don't know what it would have done if it had had a chance. Again, thanks for the help. Dave Barnhart NCR Corp. Engineering & Manufacturing 3325 Platt Springs Rd. West Columbia, SC 29169
