[comp.sys.mac] Looking for folder security software

bjb@pyramid.pyramid.com (Bruce Beare) (05/06/89)

This problem has (certainly) been discussed in this newsgroup before, but...

I have a small child that I let use the Mac in an unsupervised mode. The Mac
has a single 40MB disk. I would like to prevent him from erasing any of my
files. I know of the alternatives such as partitioning the disk, but that is
not realistic as the drive is nearly full and I can't afford to fragment what
space I have left.

What I would like is an init/cdev that would allow me to lock a folder or
a disk drive icon. I could put his folder on the desktop - and lock the icon
for the disk. Any programs in the locked folder/disk-icon should be runnable,
but double-clicking on it would not open the folder/disk-icon.
Ideally, a desk accessory would be used to unlock the folder/disk-icon.
No password is necessarily required.

Any information would be appreciated.
