[comp.sys.mac] $$$ QUERY, 512k to SE KBRD CMPTBLTY? $$$

tims@starfish.Convergent.COM (Tim Simmons) (05/04/89)

I was recently given a new Mac SE keyboard, the problem is I have
an old 512k Mac.

Does anyone know of a hardware/software product that will allow me
to use the SE keyboard on my 512k Mac. I realize it's probably
more hassle that it's worth (I havn't heard glowing reviews on the
SE keyboard).... but if it is possible I would like to check it
out. Is this request even in the realm of possiblity?

Any information on this subject would be appreciated!

I had almost forgotten about that product. When I first got a 512 (somewhat
modified), I read about a hardware product (ADB Adapter) that would be
available soon. You were supposed to be able to put old keyboards and mice
on new Macs and new Keyboards and mice on old Macs. I kept waiting to read
about its release, but I'm afraid it never made it to market.

I'm sure there were a few ads and even a comment or two from writers in
MacWorld or MacUser. Has anyone else ever seen this device?

P.S. I couldn't wait, so I bought the Datadesk Keyboard and the Honeywell
trackball. I couldn't use Word without the cursor keys and didn't have
room for a mouse, especially one that didn't track too well. That's why
I stopped following the ads for ADB adapter.
