I'm considering a daisy wheel or similar (a.k.a. NEC spinwriter) printer to print high quality text only documents from my SE. Does anybody have experience with such a printer? Specifically I want a driver and printer combination that handles Proportionally spaced text. Reasonable number of typeface wheels. I don't want to go font wild, but do want more than courier Times and Helvetica or similar, with appropriate screen fonts would make me very happy. Leaving holes for figures to be pasted in. The reason I'm asking is that with a good ribbon, daisy wheel printers look very nice, better than 300 DPI laser printers, for a pile less money. I have of course heard of the NEC spinwriter or XEROX diablo but have no idea of their prices and how well they're supported on the Mac. Please respond by mail, I try to read comp.sys.mac, but end up using the 'c' key to trash things if I get behind (happens easily). I'll summarize to the net. thanks, -- Mike Rosenlof Solbourne (303)678-4304 1900 Pike Road Computer, Inc. landru@solbourne.com Longmont Colorado ...hao!boulder!stan!landru 80501
