Hi, I'm looking for a 3.5 in floppy drive I can connect to my Mac II via the SCSI port and use to read MS-DOS 3.5-in floppies from my wife's Toshiba T1000 laptop. Has anyone had any experience with either the Dayna or PLI products that claim to do this? The latest Macweek claims that Apple is licensing Dayna's software to make MS-DOS files appear on the desktop for use with their own superfloppy drive, but since I have a Mac II, rather than a IIx or IIcx, I can't get an external superfloppy (also noted in Macweek) because I don't have the right ROMs for it. Given the choice of bringing my Mac II into the dealer, and buying an external drive, it seems like the external drive is the way to go. However, I'd be interested to hear if anyone has had trouble with that type of approach. Finally, my usual sources (MacConnection and MacWarehouse) don't seem to have the PLI drive, and they don't advertise Dayna products, so I doubt they have those either. Anyone know of a good place to buy said drives? Thanks for the info, Carl

I just shove in the disk, wait a few seconds for the Mac to write a directory for the Finder on the disk, and voila - there's the disk, on the desktop like any Mac disk. I've not seen the PLI drive. It would appear to be cheaper, but I don't know if it works as seamlessly as the Dayna File. (Note: Dayna's "Fast Format" is the same as Apple's SuperDrive format, so the 3.5" drive will read both MS-DOS formats - 720K and 1.44meg - as well as the high density Mac disks).
