I have a Mac SE I bought in March of 1987. In October of 1987 I had it upgraded to 2.5 Mb. This was done with what I was told would be a "discontinued," high profile memory board from Apple. This board would give me the 2.5Mb memory upgrade, BUT it would block my expansion slot and prevent it from being used in the future. I am now considering upgrading to 4Mb, and my question is, can I add 2Mb of LOW profile SIMMs to this board; or must I have the board taken out and buy 4 new 1Mb Low Profile SIMMs? Should I get 120ns SIMMs, or 100ns SIMMs? What is the difference in performance and hardware/software compatibility? Did the early SEs come ready to use either? If so, would my old upgrade be useable by someone with a Mac Plus? Would anyone really want this high profile type upgrade these days? What would be a reasonable asking price? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Jim Collymore p.s. Just out of curiosity, will Apple ever come out with a compact SE before 1992 that has a 33MHz 68030 processor?
