[comp.sys.mac] Hard Disk Mail Order Blues...

bush@prodigal.psych.rochester.edu (Darren Bush) (05/11/89)

Hi everyone.

Just thought that I'd pass along some information.
Having recently dealt with several companies in search of a hard disk, I
finally settled on a Jasmine 80 meg Direc Drive. Nice, quiet (compared to
my old Dataframe XP20), and I have Hypercard again!

Only problem: the sales staff at Jasmine, with the exception of one guy
who seemed to have his stuff together, were incompetent. They promised me
shipping dates and then (after I stayed home from work to receive the drive
they PROMISED would be shipped Fed Ex the day before) bag out on me. I am
still a little miffed at their unprofessional, lackadaisical attitude.

Anyway...another friend had similar problems with Jasmine, and ended up
sending his disk back, he was so irate. He finally settled on a Cirrus
(which he loves, BTW) , but his Visa still has charges on it due to snafus
at Ehman. Now THEY are incompetent. An 800 dollar Visa charge still there a
month after he sent his disk back seems pretty irresponsible.

Why am I writing this? Well, I guess it's caveat emptor when it comes to
the service, not necessarily the product.

-Darren

P.S. Jasmine also didn't ship some of the software they advertise that is
supposed to come free. Apparently, HD Partitioner doesn't work with the new
80 meg (because of changing from Rodime to Quantum?), so they just include
a little note on the disk saying, "Sorry. This program doesn't work with
this disk. Better luck next time."
