[comp.sys.mac] Something that's out there on CD-ROM...

blob@apple.com (Brian Bechtel) (05/12/89)

At the Developer's Conference, we unveiled a new CD called "Developer
Helper(tm) Volume 1: Phil and Dave's Excellent CD." This CD contains,
among other things
* All of the released System Software, from 6.0.3 back to the original
128K Macintosh 0.1 system.
* All of our foreign language software except Kanji, which will be on the
next CD. (Some last minute legal clarification kept it off this disc.)
* All the software for our peripherals.
* All of our Apple II System Software.
* All of the Guided Tours
* All of the Technical notes for the Apple II in their original format.
* All of the Technical notes for the Macintosh in their original format.
* All of the Technical notes for the Macintosh in a Hypercard stack.
* A "Q & A" stack, which contains the questions most commonly asked of
Developer Technical Support, along with answers and pointers to relevant
Tech Notes.
* All the Developer Technical Support source files.
* A variety of small tools and example source, that had been lying around.
* Technical Note #31; the DogCow (but you'll have to find it...)

This plus other miscellanea takes up 170 Mb of Macintosh partition. We
also include a 10 Mb Apple II partition, plus 28 minutes of Apple Songs
(the kind of stuff we write for Marketing events, such as "Apple II
Forever" or "The Power To Be Your Best". (The audio quality isn't our
finest; we used an old cassette for the songs.)

I'm told that this CD is going out in the next developer mailing, and that
DTS plans to update this CD quarterly.
