Will the new quickdraw be ableto print rotated text (at least in 90 degree intervals)? It would seem to be much easier with a spline-curve setup... And besides, my non-postscript printer output would look much better if ALL the text was nice and smooth... Brad Koehn "Fly like an Emu!"

It would seem to be much easier with a spline-curve setup... System 7.0 does not add this feature to Quickdraw. The underlying mechanism in the outline fonts, does support rotations and scalings, but there is no way for the program to access it. (You can get scaling by drawing the text into a picture and drawing the picture into a scalled rectangle.) Larry Rosenstein, Apple Computer, Inc. At the developer's conference, the outline font group said that the quickdraw group has not kept up with them. So there is no quickdraw call to specify rotation of text (or rotation in general, which would be a nice feature, especially in the form of a world coordinate system transformation). However, they said that there is a Pic comment that will rotate the outline text, but I don't remember what it is.
