[comp.sys.mac] MacII Drawing Problem

General problem with drawing programs:

User running System 6.03 on a MacII with Apple Colour Monitor and Viking
large monochrome. Most drawing programs seem to have a problem where freehand
drawing is "mirrored" in a number of small areas, across the menu bar. As soon
as he starts drawing, about 4 small areas turn white (about 1.5 inches square)
and show a perfect simultaneous image of the drawing being performed in the main
window.

We have tried a few obvious things about removing INITs and switching off RAM
cache but to no avail.

Used to have this problem with MacPaint on my Mac II colour system. Eventually
got a different drawing tool, but found that turning the color setting to
black and white in the control panel removed the problem. I believe it is an
incompatibility between the colour monitor interface and the assumptions built
into the drawing program being used. Just never had the time to chase it any
further. Just in case this might help. Mailer bounced message.

Could this be related to the number of bits of color? Change the
color setting to 2 bits (black&white) and the problem might go away.
