[comp.sys.mac] Aaah malicious nVIR attack!

chari@nueces.UUCP (Chris Whatley) (05/14/89)

I just bought a Mac II from some incredible asshole. Along with about 50
virus protection programs he sent along nVIR. Well I did not follow
the convention of wiping my disks before installing new software
and now a couple of machines on our network have been infected.

The infected machines are no big deal. I wiped their disks and restored.
The only problem is that three copies of inbox were infected and
I have to install these by monday.

Interferon detects these as being infected but cannot eradicate the virus.
Is there any way to get rid of nVIR other than ResEdit (which doesn't work)
or trashing the disks (not a preference)?

Chris

P.S. You may as well respond by e-mail since this has probably been covered
