DANNY@KICKI.STACKEN.KTH.SE (Danny Kohn) (05/15/89)
Hi,
I just bought the LightningScan hand scanner. As I am totally
new to imaging work, things show up a bit confusing for me.
Here comes my questions:
1) First of all it seems impossible to retreive a scanned
picture which is correct in size. It is either to big, when
one os not using the greyscale (?) conversion option (I don't
know the english term because all my menues and the manual
are in Swedish) or to small when using it. What I want is to
scan a picture and the write it on a LW and the written
picture has the same size as the scanned one. Does someone
know of a way to do that?
2) There seem to be (to?) many image formats and file formats
for images in the Mac. I think that what PICT is and believe
that PAINT picture always has a resolution of 72 DPI. But
when do I use Postscrip (EPSF) and when do I use TIFF? When
do I loose resolution in respect to using different file
formats?
3) I mostly use Word 3.01 and DeskPaint 2.01c. Can I move a
high resolution 300 DPI picture from LightningScan or
DeskPaint into a Word document without loosing resolution? If
yes, how? If no, (a) what's the use of having a scanner and
(b) does Word 4.0 handle this?
4. In the manual they are talking about that one should have
a grey scale video screen to be able to fully utilize the
sofware. Are such available for the Mac+ and the SE and if
so, what brands are priceworth?
Thankful for a answer to danny@stacken.kth.se or to the net.
/Danny
