[comp.sys.mac] Mac II drawing prob - NOT B&W fix

a_dent@vaxa.uwa.oz (Andy Dent, ph: 09 380 2620) (05/12/89)

Several people have either posted directly or replied to the net, saying that
the problem of drawing "echoed" in 1 inch squares is due to programs writing
to screen memory and can be fixed by running in Black-and-White mode.

I have a friend who is experiencing this problem with the following programs
and still encounters the problem in Black-and-White mode:

Superpaint, MacPaint, FullPaint - all give problems, MacDraw & CricketDraw are
ok!

Any more ideas?

Yes: Upgrade your software! The problems you described went away with
newer versions of the software.

Silicon Beach released a Mac II-compatible version of SuperPaint (1.1g?)
shortly after the introduction of the Mac II. The latest version is 2.0,
which has a color preview mode. MacPaint became a Claris product. Claris
released version 2.0, which made the program Mac II-compatible and added
other new features.

Registered owners can upgrade to SuperPaint 2.0 and MacPaint 2.0 for ~$50
and ~$25, respectively, if I remember correctly.

I'm a satisfied user of the SuperPaint, MacPaint, MacDraw, and MacDraw II,
and I have used them on a Mac II in color mode.

I've been using FullPaint on my Mac II in 8-bit mode for almost two
years. I suggest your friend ask for an upgrade.
