I have an Excel file that for some reason has become corrupted. I try to load it into Excel and I either cases get an "Out of Memory" error or a system error (ID=02). In both cases the error message comes after Excel say it has read 55% of the file. I've called Microsoft and they said that it sounds like a corrupted file and the best that could be done was to attempt to paste values from the corrupted file into a new file. The only problem is that most of the spreadsheet is formulas not values! My question is has anyone done this with any success? If so, what magical incantation is necessary to do this? Does anyone know of any other method of attempting to recover Excel files. Can I twiddle a couple of bits with a binary file editor? I'd be happy with just the part of the file that Excel can read. -- -- Wally Miller {decvax!microsof,uw-beaver,ssc-vax,allegra,ucbvax!lbl-csam,sun}!fluke!wally John Fluke Mfg.
