I feel compelled to put what will hopefully be a final footnote on the issue
of Jasmine's accessability. I was the original poster of the quest for help
in how to go about either reaching Jasmine or getting help for my dead Jasmine
DirectDrive 45.
o In the original posting, I mentioned legal issues that might be occupying
Jasmine's time and resources. This comment was unfortunate in that it was
based on inferences from other postings and I have no personal knowledge of
anything going on with Jasmine re: legal issues.
o I finally (Monday, 22may89) reached a real human at Jasmine, although it
seemed like an accident (the fellow at the other end was trying to dial
out and accidentally hit an incoming call line). However, once connected,
the gentleman was very helpful in verifying that I had made all reasonable
checks and tests, and then gave me an RMA to send the drive in, assuring me
that it would be no more than 3 weeks out of my hands. In light of the
apparant rash of drive failures that everyone is seeing, I figured this is
reasonable turnaround.
o He did admit that they are very busy, but was unable/unwilling to comment
on why, and I certainly didn't press the issue at all since I was more
interested in getting my drive fixed. :-)
The long and short is, Jasmine is still there, still accepts returns, and is
not going under as far as I can tell. They are just really really really busy.
Parenthetical footnote: I still have several other Jasmine drives, and they
work like champs, and have given me no problems.
I apologize for any undo concern I may have created, and certainly don't want
to see anyone change their approach or attitute towards Jasmine based on
ANYTHING I might have said.
