[comp.sys.mac] SE/30's & packing disks

dorourke@polyslo.CalPoly.EDU (David M. O'Rourke) (05/30/89)

Being the proud new owner of a baby SE/30 I love the machine, but have a
few questions that the net might be able to answer. Why didn't my SE/30
come with a packing disk?? Is the FDHD "self parking", or was this an
oversight on the part of the people who packed my machine. I hate to
transport the machine without one, but since Apple didn't ship it with one
I'm afraid to leave a disk in the drive since it might do more harm than
good.

The very latest issue of "Disk Gazette" (sp?) had a very STRONG WARNING that
the new super drives don't come with the packing disk because they don't need
it. They come with built in parking or what ever it is the packing disks do.

IF YOU PUT A PACKING DISK INTO A SUPER DRIVE IT WILL DAMAGE IT!!!!!

The warning expressed some suprise that there was no explaination of this and
I believe it said it had to talk to Sony to find this out!
