I suppose I must admit to a certain bias, as an HP employee, but as a UC Berkeley student, I can say that we've thrashed 'em smashed em, and bashed 'em, and the HP Thinkjet is STILL quiet, and performs as expected, The tight weave paper (the special paper) is not necessary. Any paper works, and any comparable quality paper gives comparable results. It's not like HP uses any special chemical or something. It really is a nice machine, although, if you can afford, go for the Laserjet. Dan Lieman
