I just tried Preditor on a Mac II, color, 2MB, and it crashed. I removed all INITs (using INITcdev) and it still crashed. I finally ran it from a copy of the basic Mac system 6.0.2 distribution disk, and it ran OK. Before I take time to figure out what is in my system that is causing this, has anyone else seen this? -- David Elliott dce@Solbourne.COM ...!{boulder,nbires,sun}!stan!dce

I was really looking forward to trying it out but I really couldn't. It bombed reliably on startup if I loaded with suitcase II 1.2.3 running. (usually ID 28, 10, or 1). If I disabled Suitcase (and maybe some other inits, I forget which) I could usually run it, but only could load a doc if I double clicked on the doc. If I tried to use their OPEN menu Item, their custom OPEN box would only get partially drawn (a couple of buttons, and a scroll bar, but no file list etc.) and my only choice would be to cancel. Interestingly (and reproducabley) any attempt to rerun Preditor, after trying to use the OPEN menu option (ie, load preditor, try option (fails as above), cancel, quit, then rerun Preditor by double clicking on a doc) leads to a bomb (ID 01, or 10). Well, The program has lots of features I'm dying for, so if this can be resolved Id love some help. I was using System 6.0.2 Finder 6.1 and Multifinder 6.0.1 with 2.5 Meg RAM on a Plus. Anyone else would like to add to this list of imcompatible configurations ? ________________________________________________________________________ Xiaoxia Ye INTERNET/BITNET/UUCP: xxiaoye@eleazar.dartmouth.edu Dartmouth College For more info: finger xxiaoye@eleazar.dartmouth.edu

Yeap, much to my annoyance, it crashed on me as well; too often to make me want to try it out any further. System - 1Meg 512Ke, system 6.0.2, AppleShare, the recently posted SFgetfile init that preserves location in the getfile box, standard cdevs (general, keyboard, mouse and international) with (ahem) no hard disk. This is another reason why I won't be using it, unless someone wants to give me a hard disk for free! -- John Zic "He's dead, Jim ... but not as we know it!" I ran it on a system from unlocked copy of this same distribution, and it crashed the system with an unknown error (the bomb window was there, but it was completely blank!). I was able to get it to run when I took Preditor from a floppy as well. Hmm. Maybe it's copy protected ;-) (yes, I'm joking... All custom dialogs worked well, open worked fine (went back & tested). I cant say that I tested Preditor completely, but it appeared to work well for me. INITS: Standard Apple stuff, LaserSpeed. CDEVs: Cache Control (Both data & inst were "on"), Gate Keeper 1.1, Vaccine. ___________________________________________________________ Randy Thompson uunet!smsdpg!rht SMS Data Products Group, Inc. - or - 703/648-9400 rht@smsdpg.UUCP ___________________________________________________________

I've been able to use Preditor demo w/o problems on a color Mac II with
4MB of memory using system 6.0.2. I have a large number of inits,
none of which seem to get in the way.
