[comp.sys.mac] Don't mix SIMM speeds in one row???

chet@arc.UUCP (Chet Wood) (06/03/89)

I just bought 2 1M SIMM strips for my mac plus. Since they were the
last two in stock ( I bought from a private party), one is a 100ns and
120ns.

Now I see the fine print in TN 176 that says not to mix SIMM speeds in
a row.

This is quite unexpected and, frankly unbelievable.

Having designed a microprocessor board with dynamic RAM way back in
the dark ages, I can't imagine a reasonable technical justification.
If there is one, can someone please explain it to me? And if the
hardware does rely on this, what are tolerances? (i.e., what does
"same speed" mean?)

Thanks in advance...
