[comp.sys.mac] bad ADOBE fonts

ggiergiel@vmsa.cf.uci.edu (06/06/89)

I sent this today to the guy who is in charge of FONT directory on
SUMEX. Hope they will do something.

I've just downloaded one of the Adobe screen font files (Helvetica Light
Black) from Sumex. As expected the file is the original corrupted version
of Adobe Font file, that was distributed when Adobe didn't have the slightest
idea on how to write MacIntosh resource forks. If you install that file on
your system, you guarantee yourself spectacular crashes. The exact nature of
the problem is a little hard to explain here. If you need more info run
MPW RezDet on this font and/or read one of the Apple Technical notes that
deal with FONT/NFNT.
Please REMOVE all old Adobe screen font files from Sumex and replace them
with new versions if posssible.
