The following is posted for members of the Apple development
community on behalf of David Szetela, Manager of Apple Developer
Services...

Dear Friends,

Today Apple learned that source code to Color Quickdraw
has been distributed in an unauthorized fashion by an
alleged group, the nuPrometheus League. The group says
they plan to distribute other Apple-owned source code in
the future.

Theft of company property and transmittal via the mail
is a serious crime which can result in severe punishment,
including incarceration. Apple intends to apprehend
individuals involved in any theft of company property,
and if they are employees, immediately terminate them
from employment at Apple. We will prosecute the individuals
to the fullest extent of the law.

We're shocked and outraged that our proprietary work has
been stolen and distributed, much the same as you would be
if the source code for your product was distributed widely.
You can help us in two ways. First, refuse to accept
copies of stolen source code. Possession of stolen property
is itself a criminal act. If you find yourself in possession
of stolen source code, the best thing to do is destroy
it immediately.

Second, if you have any information that might lead us
to identify the person(s) who stole the source code from
Apple, or whoever is distributing the source code, please
contact Ken Moore, Manager of Apple Security, at (408) 974-5584.
